INHUMAN ATTACK ON JOURNALIST VISHWALINGAM VISHWACHANDRAN
Sri Lanka Working Journalists’ Association (SLWJA) draw your attention to the incident of the brutal attack on Mr. Vishwalingam Vishwachandran, Provincial Journalist of Mullaitivu Press Club, by several troops of the 59th Division of Sri Lanka Army, while taking photographs of Mullivaikkal name board for an official purpose, on the 27th November 2021.
According to a complaint lodged by Mr.Vishwalingam Vishwachandran, three Army personnel arrested by the Police have been released on bail after being produced in court and the seriously injured journalist is receiving treatment at the Mullaitivu District Hospital.
SLWJA strongly condemn this incident and urge you to draw your attention to this matter and take steps to legally punish those responsible through an impartial inquiry. Also SLWJA kindly request you to make the necessary arrangements to prevent such incidents in the future.
